Hughesnet® Wi-Fi Modem provides two networks, a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Deciding which network to use, is based on your unique home set-up.
2.4 GHz has a longer range and can penetrate walls and other solid objects more easily. However, it is more susceptible to interference, so speeds may not be as high.
5 GHz offers faster speeds, but it is less able to penetrate walls and other solid objects. So, if you are far away from your modem, the signal strength may be weaker.
Devices streaming a lot of videos, such as Roku or Amazon Fire Stick, should connect to the 5 GHz network if possible, provided you can receive a strong wireless signal. If you cannot, use the 2.4 GHz network.
